The Federal Target Program “Protection of Lake Baikal and Socio-economic Development of the Baikal Natural Territory for 2012-2020” has been approved by the Government resolution dated 21st August, 2012 No. 847.
The state report on the condition of Lake Baikal is prepared to meet the needs of the state, legal entities, individuals and the global community in the reliable information concerning the condition of Lake Baikal and the Baikal Natural Territory, with consideration of international obligations of the Russian Federation with regard to Lake Baikal as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.
