The range of regulation of the Baikal level in conditions of low and high water content will be kept within the range of 455.54 - 457.85 meters (in the Pacific Elevation System) for the next two years. The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia has prepared a draft decree of the Government of Russia "On the maximum and minimum values of the water level in Lake Baikal in 2022-2023."

The Arbitration Court in the Irkutsk Region declared illegal the privatization of a 15,000 sq. M site. m on the shore of Lake Baikal. Earlier, the administration of the Shara-Togot municipality sold it to an entrepreneur who planned to build a tourist base there, although the site is located in a conservation area, the regional prosecutor's office reported on the website.

According to the Buryat Centre of hydrometeorology and monitoring of environment, the water level in Lake Baikal has exceeded the upper critical mark of 457.0 meters since September 14 this year. As of September 22, the water level in the lake was 457.09 m compared to the Pacific sea level datum.
