In general, in the Baikal natural territory in 2020, as in previous years, the radiation situation remained stable and the levels of pollution of environmental objects did not pose a danger to the population.

In 2020, the radiation situation did not exceed critical values. The ambient dose equivalent rate (AEDR) ranged from 7 to 22.10-2 µSv/h and was within the range of natural radiation background fluctuations. No noticeable deviations from the background range were recorded.

The value of the average monthly total beta activity of atmospheric precipitation in 2020 compared to 2019 in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Republic of Buryatia remained practically unchanged (1.15 and 1.12 Bq/m2*day), as well as in the Irkutsk Region (3.39 and 3.34 Bq/m2*day). Within the Irkutsk region, a decrease in the concentration of radioactive aerosols (by 4.5%) was noted.
