The Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Alexander Kozlov held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Public Council at the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia Alexander Zakondyrin. The parties discussed the most important issues, in the discussion of which, according to the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, it is necessary to ensure the participation, including public experts. As a result of the meeting, the participants approved the council's work plan for 2023.

According to the chairman of the council, this year plans to discuss the implementation of most federal projects that are part of the national project "Ecology". Among them are the results and action plans of the federal projects "Preservation of Lake Baikal", "Improvement of the Volga", "Preservation of unique water bodies", "Clean Country", "Integrated Solid municipal Waste Management System", "Infrastructure for waste management of hazard classes I-II", "Clean Air".

In addition, the public council is preparing to discuss the federal project "Integrated Environmental Quality Monitoring System", as well as amendments to legislation that are being prepared by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia. It is planned that the environmental monitoring system will be designed to provide comprehensive and timely information to citizens and authorities, organizations about the state of the environment. The creation of a single digital platform will ensure the collection of data from 15 existing sources of environmental monitoring. It will improve the quality of information, promptly obtain information about the sources of pollution, identify and fix violations.

In total, the plan includes 18 issues on which 10 meetings of the public council under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia will be held.

"The Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia is our most important platform, the most pressing issues of the environmental agenda are raised here. The council has many tasks, they are being solved, new ones appear. But the most important thing is that this does not happen for the sake of the process itself, its experts are always focused on the result: improving the environment, truly rational use of natural resources, the development of science, and therefore improving the quality of life in our country," said Alexander Kozlov, head of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The work plan also included a discussion of scientific research in the high-latitude Arctic and the first results at the drifting station "North Pole-41", and scientific Antarctic research, work on the assembly of a new unique station "Vostok". It is planned that in 2023, experts will consider the strategy for the development of the mineral resource base of Russia, the strategy for the development of the country's water management complex and the strategy for environmental safety until 2025, including the prospects for its development.
