Russian President Vladimir Putin paid considerable attention to environmental issues during his Address to the Federal Assembly. The Head of State announced a number of decisions for the development of the field of nature conservation: increasing salaries for forest industry workers, meteorology specialists, as well as environmental protection, creating a fund to support civil environmental initiatives, opening a network of rehabilitation centers for injured and confiscated wild animals.

Among the first issues of the President's speech is the reduction of harmful emissions. To do this, a federal project has been working in 12 large industrial centers since 2019.

The president also said that by 2030, an eco-tourism infrastructure will be created in all national parks, including eco-trails and hiking trails, including weekend routes for schoolchildren, recreation areas, museums and visitor centers.

"Modern safe infrastructure will appear near water bodies, including on Lake Baikal. A year–round resort will open here by 2030, while I consider it important to strictly adhere to the principle of "zero pollution", that is, the complete absence of waste and untreated wastewater into the lake," Vladimir Putin stressed.

Recall that in order to comprehensively improve the environmental situation, improve the quality of life and health of Russians, the national Ecology project was launched in 2019 by decision of the president. The work on the national project is carried out in several directions: the formation of an effective system for the management of solid municipal waste (MSW), the elimination of landfills, the conservation and restoration of forests, the improvement of reservoirs, the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere, the development of eco-tourism and the preservation of biological diversity.
