Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036.
The document defines national development goals, including the preservation of the population and family support, a comfortable and safe living environment, environmental well-being, a sustainable and dynamic economy, technological leadership, and digital transformation of public administration.
The Head of State has defined targets and tasks for the national goal "Environmental well-being" for the period up to 2036.
Another task set by the President is to gradually halve emissions of dangerous pollutants by 2036, which have the greatest negative impact on the environment and human health, in cities with high and very high levels of atmospheric air pollution. Now such work is underway under the federal Clean Air project – in 12 industrial cities, hazardous emissions have been reduced by more than 13% in four years.
Two more environmental indicators set by the president should be achieved by 2036 - utilization and neutralization of at least 50% of waste of hazard classes I and II, halving the volume of untreated wastewater discharged into the main water bodies, preservation of the unique ecological system of Lake Baikal.
National priorities also include the conservation of forests and biological diversity, the sustainable development of specially protected natural areas and the creation of conditions for eco-tourism in all national parks.
