Environmental monitoring of Lake Baikal

Water quality of rivers of the Baikal Natural Territory

Water quality of rivers of the BNT according to hydrochemical indicators

The classification of water pollution rate is represented by the conventional division of the whole range of composition and properties of natural waters under conditions of anthropogenic impact by different intervals, with a gradual transition from “conditionally clean” to “extremely dirty” in values of combinatorial water pollution index with consideration of a number of additional factors.

Legend

Class of water quality was calculated according to the observations of the State monitoring network of Roshydromet in 2015 with the use of RD (Regulatory document) 52.24.643-2002 “Methodological guidelines. Method of integrated assessment of the surface water pollution degree according to hydrochemical indicators”.

The annual water inflow received by Lake Baikal in 2015 amounted to 15756 m3/s (41,393 km3), estimated according to operational data.
