On April 27, 2021, Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 654 “On the maximum and minimum values of the water level in Lake Baikal in 2021” was adopted, which determines the limit values for the water level in Lake Baikal. in conditions of different water content:

- maximum and minimum values of the water level in the lake. Baikal during the period of average water content at 457 and 456 m according to the Pacific system, respectively;

- the minimum value of the water level in the lake. Baikal in the period of low water (dry period) at around 455.54 m according to the Pacific system;

- the maximum value of the water level in Lake Baikal during the flood period (high water) at around 457.85 m according to the Pacific system.

In 2021, the water level in Lake Baikal changed depending on the useful inflow into the lake and the regulation of the operation modes of the Angarsk HPPs, which was carried out in accordance with the "Basic Rules for the Use of Water Resources of Reservoirs". In 2021, the regulation of the water level of Lake Baikal was carried out in conditions of high water content. The limit values of the level determined by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 27, 2021 No. 654 “On the maximum and minimum values of the water level in Lake Baikal in 2021” have not been reached.
