In 2013, the official catch of omul fish in the Lake Baikal and in the major spawning streams decreased by 67 tonnes compared to 2012, and amounted to 1140 ton.
Fishery harvesting of other fish species remained at the level of previous years with a tendency of gradual increase of the catch during previous 5-7 years.
In 2024, the Baikal Mile will be held from 6 to 8 June.

In 2024, the festival of ice sculptures on Lake Baikal is scheduled for the period from February 15 to 28. During these two weeks, the lake shore will turn into a real open-air museum, where everyone will be able to enjoy sculptural masterpieces created from ice.
