Characteristics of habitat conditions

The beginning of winter almost everywhere fell on the first ten days of November, and the end - on the first half of April. Winter in the valleys and hollows was dominated by frosty, wet, cloudy, windless, with little snow cover in the pre-bald zone. In the upper parts of the ranges, the weather was more windy, snowy and frosty from late spring. November was relatively warm and little snow compared to the average long-term data, December - little snow and not frosty. In the south-west, early snowfall was noted, the air temperature was above the long-term average.

In 2020, spring began in the second half of April and ended in late May - early June. The spring activation of cyclonic activity led to an increase in wind speed, precipitation in the form of wet snow and rain, the emergence and development of snow drifts, snowstorms, and storms. In spring, night frosts were observed, and when the northwestern anticyclones and cyclones mixed, the cold returned.

Summer started at the beginning of June. The first half was partly cloudy and with little precipitation, in the second half of the summer heavy precipitation prevailed, which led to river overflow and floods, the water level in the lakes also increased.

Autumn came in late August - early September. At relatively low daytime temperatures, night frosts occurred as early as August. The first half of autumn was characterized by periods of warm and sunny weather.

In the autumn of 2020, in the territory of the Trans-Baikal Territory, including the BNT, there was a good harvest of pine nuts and an average harvest of fruit and berry crops in the traditional habitats of the brown bear.

Together, the climatic conditions in the territory of the Trans-Baikal Territory in 2020 can be considered satisfactory for the habitat and reproduction of wild animal populations.
