Irkutsk Region suggests implementation of over 70 actions

The Governor of Irkutsk Region and the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation discussed the actions suggested by the region for implementation within the framework of the "Ecology" national project. They will require 54.8 billion Rubles, almost 46 billion Rubles of which are federal funds.

The largest amount of funds - more than 41 billion Rubles - is required for 32 actions in the federal project “Preservation of Lake Baikal”. They include construction of new and reconstruction of existing wastewater treatment plants, organization of collection points for wastewater and municipal solid waste from ships in the Baikal water area.

In addition, 37 actions are planned to be included in the "Construction of facilities for sorting and processing municipal solid waste" section. The most important of these is the elimination of waste accumulated as a result of activities of the Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill. It is also proposed to construct shore-fixing structures, a fish farm, to create temporary mobile fish hatcheries.
