Preserving the Baikal Lake is an Ecological Challenge defined in the May Presidential Decree

The Irkutsk region should actively participate in the work on national projects and programmes outlined in the Decree “On the National Goals and Strategic Objectives for Development of the Russian Federation for the period until the year 2024”, which was signed on May 7, 2018 year. “It is important for us to make pertinent suggestions for the Irkutsk region, taking into account the region specifics”, - said the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk region.

“Inclusion in the decree specifying, in fact, the development strategy of Russia for the long term, of two environmentally problematic sites of the Angara region (Irkutsk region) - the town of Bratsk and the Baikal lake - testifies of the increased attention of the President to the ecological system of the Irkutsk region and his awareness of the state of affairs in this field in our region.” The decree commits all administrative levels to take concrete actions for solving problems.
