In general, the radiation situation in the Baikal natural area (BNA) in 2018, as in previous years, remained favorable, and the levels of environmental pollution posed no threat to the population.

In 2018, the radiation situation did not exceed the critical values. The ambient dose equivalent (MAED) power ranged from 7 to 19.10-2 mSv / h and was within the range of natural background radiation fluctuations. There were no noticeable deviations from the background range.

The value of the average monthly total beta activity of atmospheric precipitation in 2018 compared to 2017 in the Trans-Baikal territory and the Republic of Buryatia has not changed (1.12 and 1.18 Bq/m2*day), as in the Irkutsk region (3.34 and 3.38 Bq/m2*day). Within the Irkutsk region, there was a decrease in the concentration of radioactive aerosols (by 13 %).
