Monitoring of hunting resources

Republic of Buryatia

Characteristics of habitat conditions

Republic of Buryatia affected the location of wild animals, e.g. wild ungulate species were concentrated in places of winter habitats, characterized by available food reserve and protective conditions, and almost did not move at all. Fur-bearing species, in particular sables, also had a less active lifestyle in the period of low temperatures, went rarely out of their shelters, eating their feed stored in advance.

The summer feed supplies for most vegetative feeds (such as seeds, fruits, mushrooms) were characterized as the low ones. The condition of feed supplies for mouse-like and other feeds for carnivorous animals was characterized by an average value across the Republic, and by a good level - in a number of northern areas.

The existing climatic conditions in autumn and winter, as well as the predation of wolf and the lack of feeds have influenced the placement and migration of wild ungulates, so there were widespread migrations of wild boars and movements of roe deer.
